Ashley River Park is located near the beautiful scenic side of the Ashley River off of Bacon’s Bridge Road. The site features many amenities and recreation activities for visitors of all ages. The park is open from dawn to dusk daily. Ashley River Park features playgrounds, two picnic shelters, a splash pad, a fishing pond, riverside walking trail, kayak launch, event lawn, and dog parks for both small and large dogs. There is also an event pavilion on site available for full-day rentals. We are currently working on constructing an adventure course and rock climbing wall at this location

Called the crown jewel of Mount Pleasant, Memorial Waterfront Park offers more than just your average park. Located under the grand entryway to the town, at the base of the Ravenel Bridge, this park has plenty of lawn for enjoying family picnics, a nautical-themed playground modeled after the bridge that provides shade and the boats that pass by in the harbor, and soft-serve ice cream from the River Watch Cafe. The cafe offers beautiful views of Charleston Harbor and a 1,250-foot-long pier where you can sit and swing a while. Ridgewood Community Center, located between Dartmouth Avenue and Woodbrier Street, is a new community center that features a kitchen, two meeting rooms, and restrooms. Outside, there is a picnic shelter, a playground, security lighting, outdoor restrooms, and a walking trail, approximately a quarter of a mile in length.

The walking trail, made of paved, recycled, rubberized material, allows for ADA accessibility and full participation of all our patrons. There are also four exercise stations placed strategically along the trail to allow for a full-body workout of 10 different, low-impact exercises. Enjoy the decorative lighting around the walking trail and relax on one of the four park benches located under the shade trees. Enjoy lunch at the picnic shelter and let the children play in the enclosed playground as you watch their every move while walking along the trail.

“This wonderful Live Oak, with a circumference of nine feet, is located adjacent to the Tree House at the end of Smythe Street. It has been inducted into the national Live Oak Society. Though it was toppled many years ago, it is an excellent example of the resiliency of the Live Oak. This outdoor skate park is located at 1351 Jim Hamilton Blvd. next to Owens Field Airport in downtown Columbia. The 15,000 square-foot park features a street plaza, stairs, metal plated rails, and “pool” bowls ranging in depth from 4-to-12 feet.

Pads are required. The skate park is free and open to skateboards, in-line skates and bicycles.
The Owens field park has restrooms and a canteen area. A variety of outdoor sports take place at the park, which includes an 18-hole disc golf course, 12 regulation size soccer fields for all ages, and 3 T- Ball fields for youth play. Other sports that take place at the park consist of rugby, Pop Warner Football, Cross Country Track and Ultimate Frisbee League.

This park has a paved trail for walking, skating, or bicycling. There are benches and trees and open fields for playing as well as a small baseball diamond. There is a picnic shelter. The playground is not shaded but has plenty of sand for digging. There is a really cool “rock climbing” feature on the play equipment and a 3-lane squiggly slide. The play equipment is great for a slightly older child as well as a small child. The size of Rosewood Park totals 5.9 acres.

This Park is located in the heart of the Five Points business district. It also is home to three communities that make up the Waverly Neighborhood of communities. The park has a baseball field, playground area for all ages and large outdoor space that features many events throughout the year (i.e. Summer Jazz Festival, St. Patrick’s Day Celebration). The Park is also home to the Stone of Hope in Honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The community center has a full size basketball court, exercise room, game room, meeting rooms, computer room, kitchen, ceramic room and a computer room with WIFI capabilities.

Visit a piece of RCRC history. Trenholm Park was the very first park opened by the Richland County Recreation Commission back in 1968. Hampton Park – Charleston

Hampton Park is one of the City of Charleston’s largest parks. It boasts the most extensive floral displays of any park in the city. An old rose collection and seasonal displays are planted by the staff and volunteers caring for the park. This neighborhood park has a rich history recently documented through a project of the Charleston Horticultural Society, an audio walking tour called Layers of the Landscape.

This park is home to many activities year round. Weddings, family reunions and many Frisbee games are but a few of the diverse activities seen in this park. The physical fitness trail is a popular spot for The Citadel students who live next door to the park. The park is an arboretum of sorts with many interesting species of trees and shrubs that grow in the Lowcountry. It is one of the few City of Charleston parks with restrooms and on-site parking.

Riverfront Park North

Riverfront Park opened in 1983 for recreational usage of the land where the original waterworks for the City of Columbia was situated. This was also the site of the world’s first electrically operated textile mill, and the hydroelectric plant, the oldest one in the state, is still operating. 140 acres make up Riverfront Park.
The park, which separates the Historic Columbia Canal and the Congaree River, is approximately 167 acres and is just west of Huger Street. A popular jogging/walking trail runs two and one half miles along the linear park and offers wonderful views of the river. There is also a beautiful brick amphitheater as well as a self-guided walkway by the old parts of the water plant. The park has the capability of hosting smaller concerts.

Riverfront Park also includes an outdoor gym which features seven pieces of equipment including a Lat pull down and vertical press, a rower, a 2-person wheelchair accessible chest press, a 4-person leg press, an elliptical cross trainer, 4-person pendulum and 3-person static combo.

In 2015, the South Carolina Memorial Park Commission unveiled a bronze War Dogs Monument at Memorial Park. The monument is a representation of a Vietnam infantryman and his loyal canine companion. The kneeling solider is about seven feet tall and weighs 1,400 pounds. The statue of the dog is four feet tall and weighs 300 pounds.
