Greenview Park is a multi sport complex that offers recreational amenities inside and outside of the park. The park consists of multiple ball fields, 9-court tennis facility, outdoor swimming pool, walking trail, playground area and a picnic shelter. Indoor amenities consists of a game room, multiple meeting rooms that include a ceramics room, computer room, teen room, three meeting rooms, full size kitchen, fitness room and a gymnasium that seats 299 persons.
Located in an ideal spot between Farrow Road near I-77 and Wilson Road in Blythewood, Killian Park offers programs and services that enrich the quality of life for persons of all ages and abilities. Participants benefit from the provision of equal access to diverse program opportunities. We celebrate cultural awareness and connect groups from all strata of our community. We offer an amazing indoor play space for kids 0-12. We host a variety of special, kid and parent friendly events. We have 4 large event rooms to host a birthday party, special gathering, or play group. Our cafe offers a wide variety of food options and a coffee bar.
Established in 2019. A group of like-minded adults came together to create an indoor play center that we, as parents ourselves, would be thrilled to take our kids to. We looked at it from every possible angle. While fun and entertainment were in the forefront, safety and security, conveniences, accommodations, and adult comforts were also considered. We wanted to create a place that everyone could enjoy, from the littlest kiddos to the biggest grown-up kiddos.
The Busby Street Community Center houses a large multipurpose room that can be divided into three smaller meeting spaces, state-of-the-art audiovisual equipment, three office spaces, a kitchen and conference room. The 6,968-square-foot community center is part of the The Busby Street Complex, which includes the Columbia Police Department’s 1,439-square-foot Office of Community Services, playground and walking trail.

One of our most popular parks, located just off of I-20 is always hopping! The local neighborhoods enjoy a gym, kitchen, weight room, racquetball courts and classrooms. The baseball fields got a face-lift this year with the addition of a new concession stand with a media box. All of the fields have lights and Meadowlake Park is the only recreation center that has a full walking track with lights. The two tennis courts have been resurfaced and the nearby playground and picnic shelter is perfect for family get togethers.

Housed in the 10-story, 600,000 square-foot warehouse of the International Shoe Company, City Museum is a mixture of children’s playground, funhouse, surrealistic pavilion, and architectural marvel made out of found and repurposed objects. The brainchild of internationally-acclaimed artists Bob and Gail Cassilly, both classically trained sculptors, City Museum opened for visitors in 1997.
City Museum has deep urban roots. Bob Cassilly and his longtime crew of 20 artisans have constructed the museum from the very stuff of which cities are made: concrete, iron, limestone, bricks, rebar, tile, stone; gears, beams, wheels, belts, valves, tanks; bridges, buses, planes, facades, cranes, doors, fire trucks, walls, locomotives. Look carefully to see the houses, churches, schools, store fronts, and factories of St. Louis and its Rust Belt cousins.
The Story of “Montreux”
Montreux takes it’s name from the town of Montreux on the shores of Lake Geneva Switzerland. On December 4, 1971 the band “Deep Purple” had set up camp in Montreux Switzerland to record an album at the entertainment complex that was part of the Montreux Casino, using a mobile recording studio rented from the Rolling Stones. On the eve of the recording session, a concert by Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention was held in the casino’s theatre. In the middle of Don Preston’s synthesizer solo on “King Kong” the place suddenly caught on fire when someone in the audience set off a flare gun into the rattan ceiling. The resulting fire destroyed the entire casino complex along with all of the Mother’s equipment.
Meanwhile, the members of Deep Purple watched the fire from their hotel rooms across the lake. A few days later guitarist Roger Glover awoke from a dream about the fire and came up with the title “Smoke on the Water” referring to the smoke from the fire spreading over Lake Geneva from the burning casino. In the song, the mobile studio is referred to as the “Rolling truck Stones thing” and the “mobile”. The person who started the fire is “some stupid with a flare gun”. “Funky Claude” is Claude Nobs, the director of the Montreux Jazz Festival, who helped some of the audience escape the fire.
Smoke on the Water
“We all came out to Montreux on the Lake Geneva shoreline. To make records with a mobile, We didn’t have much time. Smoke on the water, Fire in the sky.”
The Montreux Casino was rebuilt in 1975.
Montreux is the home of Mountain Studios, the recording studio used by several artist. “Bonzo’s Montreux” by Led Zeppelin is named after the city where the drum session of John Bonham was recorded in 1976. In 1978, the band Queen bought the studio. A statue of Freddy Mercury, lead singer for Queen, acknowledged as one of the greatest singers of all time and occasional performer at the jazz festival, stands in a prominent location on the shore of Lake Geneva. The Montreux Jazz Festival has been held every year in July since 1967. Today’s festival lasts about two weeks, represents every imaginable music style, and attracts an audience of over 200,000.
Before we opened “Montreux Bar and Grill” in Summerville, an unnamed patron at a local bar who looked like ZZ Top suggested the name and told the story about “Smoke on the Water”. We liked the name immediately. In keeping with the Montreux tradition, Thursday through Monday we bring live music “of every imaginable style” to Montreux Bar and Grill here in this grand old building (1862) in beautiful downtown Summerville, SC. Founded in 1976, Laumeier is one of the first and largest dedicated sculpture parks in the country. In 1968, Mrs. Matilda Laumeier bequeathed the first 72 acres of the future Laumeier Sculpture Park to St. Louis County in memory of her husband, Henry Laumeier. In 1976, local artist Ernest Trova gifted 40 artworks, with an estimated market value of approximately one million dollars, to St. Louis County for the formation of a sculpture park and gallery. Laumeier Sculpture Park opened as part of the St. Louis County Department of Parks and Recreation system on July 7, 1976. One year later, Laumeier Sculpture Park was officially incorporated.
Today, Laumeier is an internationally recognized, nonprofit arts organization that is accredited by the American Alliance of Museums and operates in partnership with St. Louis County Parks. Projects and programs are supported by the Mark Twain Laumeier Endowment Fund, the Regional Arts Commission, the University of Missouri-St. Louis, Missouri Arts Council and the Arts and Education Council of St. Louis. Laumeier presents more than 70 works of large-scale outdoor sculpture in a 105-acre park located in the heart of St. Louis County. Free and open daily, Laumeier serves 300,000 visitors of all ages each year through sculpture conservation, education programs, temporary exhibitions and public events.
In 2015, Laumeier closed its first major capital campaign, Sculpting the Future, culminating in the renovation of the Laumeier’s 1917 Estate House into the Kranzberg Education Lab and the construction of the new Aronson Fine Arts Center for exhibitions, programs and events.

The Park is free and open to the public year-round, with the exception of special events. The Aronson Fine Arts Center hours may change seasonally and due to private events. The entire Park is closed to the general public the Thursday–Sunday of Art Fair weekend in May, November 5 for Laumeier After Dark, and Christmas Day (December 25). The Park will also close at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 17 for The Big Dinner.
Public restrooms are available in the Carriage House and the Way Field. It is recommended that visitors wear face masks when entering any indoor facility at the Park.

Ridgewood Community Center, located between Dartmouth Avenue and Woodbrier Street, is a new community center that features a kitchen, two meeting rooms, and restrooms. Outside, there is a picnic shelter, a playground, security lighting, outdoor restrooms, and a walking trail, approximately a quarter of a mile in length.
The walking trail, made of paved, recycled, rubberized material, allows for ADA accessibility and full participation of all our patrons. There are also four exercise stations placed strategically along the trail to allow for a full-body workout of 10 different, low-impact exercises. Enjoy the decorative lighting around the walking trail and relax on one of the four park benches located under the shade trees. Enjoy lunch at the picnic shelter and let the children play in the enclosed playground as you watch their every move while walking along the trail.

Founded by two volunteers, Barbie Freund and Jody Newman On October 16, 1979, our quaint 5,500 square foot Victorian mansion opened its doors in Kirkwood, Missouri as the region’s first children’s museum and has grown from a local attraction to an award-winning national landmark. Through a series of expansions, The Magic House has grown from 5,500 square feet to 55,000 square feet, featured hundreds of new exhibits, and have welcomed over 15 million visitors! The Carolina Ice Palace is a state of the art facility featuring two NHL sized ice rinks, full service pro shop, meeting rooms, concessions stand, and The Penalty Box Sports Lounge. Since 1997 the Carolina Ice Palace has hosted numerous hockey tournaments and figure skating competitions including the USA Hockey “Pee Wee” National Championship and the South Atlantic Regionals Figure Skating Championships. The NHL’s Buffalo Sabres and St. Louis Blues have skated at the Carolina Ice Palace along with Gold Medal Olympian, Tara Lipinski. Home to the Charleston Youth Hockey Association and Figure Skating Club of Charleston, the facility is open year round, and is also the official practice facility of the South Carolina Stingrays.

The Arch is the tallest monument in the U.S. at 630 feet in height. Its complex and subtle design based on a weighted catenary is unique in architecture and its structural system had never been attempted on such a large scale.
Although designed in 1947 and not built until between 1963 and 1968, its symbolic architectural expression is of such simplicity that it remains modern.
The Park Grounds that surround the Arch plays host to the annual Fair Saint Louis 4th of July Event and is covered by walkways and paths. The banks of the Mississippi run along the eastern edge of the park and gives visitors a great view of Downtown St. Louis.

This 5000 sq. ft. facility has a large open lobby, two meeting rooms, a large meeting room, a fully equipped kitchen, ball field, basketball court and a playground. The Community Center will be available to hold meetings, receptions, fun community events, rentals and will have some programming available to the public. Seven Oaks is one of the Midlands’ premier baseball venues. The park’s six natural-turf baseball diamonds include four youth, one intermediate and one regulation-sized in addition to three multi-use fields.
